Pink Coffee Cafe, Newcastle

I found this cafe near Newcastle station whilst waiting for a train. It’s very handy being only across the road from the station. A very friendly cafe with a good atmosphere which seemed to be popular with local people on their way to work. It is a great place for breakfast or brunch as there is a good selection ranging from porridge with berries to baguettes with avocado and tomato. I had a tasty toasted ham and cheese croissant. Free wifi too.

Little Chamonix Cafe, Keswick

Definitely planning to return as there is a good selection of local produce and home-cooked dishes from scones to Cumberland sausage and Lake District cheese. It appears to be a particularly good place to visit for brunch or lunch. The decor is clean and contemporary and the hosts honed their skills chalet hosting in the French alps. An additional touch was a sign noting that the flowers on the tables (and occasionally the vegetables) were from Dad’s garden “Thanks Dad”. E
